Sylvia J. Simmons joined The Giardinelli Law Group, APC in 1997.  Her practice is focused on real estate transactions, employment law and business law.  She advises real estate brokers and office managers, buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, and business owners and managers.  Her work involves not only negotiating, structuring and documenting the purchase, sale, leasing, and developing of real property, but also helping clients resolve contract disputes in order to avoid costly litigation.  Sylvia is experienced in representing management in Labor Board proceedings, counseling employers regarding human resource and personnel matters, wage and hour issues, preparing employment and other contracts and Employee Handbooks, and training managers and employees to prevent sexual harassment and other forms of harassment and discrimination.  Sylvia has primary responsibility for writing the firm's newsletter for its REALTOR® Association clients.

Sylvia previously practiced in general civil and insurance defense litigation, and represented plaintiffs in employment discrimination and wrongful termination litigation.  She is counsel of record on a published appellate case before the Second Appellate District.  She completed mediation training programs of the Los Angeles County Bar Association and Pepperdine University and served as a volunteer mediator for the Center for Conflict Resolution and as a volunteer settlement officer for the Van Nuys Superior Court. 

Sylvia received her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of La Verne, College of Law and was admitted to the California bar in 1990.  She is a member of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the California Bar, and she is also a member of the Riverside County Bar Association and the Temecula Chapter of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®.

While practicing in San Fernando Valley, Sylvia founded Women In Network, an educational and networking organization.  While in law school, she participated in moot court competition, was the recipient of three American Jurisprudence Awards, and was invited to serve on the University of La Verne Law Review.  Before becoming an attorney, Sylvia held positions as law clerk, paralegal, law firm administrator, and legal secretary.
